We believe education is a human right. The Taliban's recent ban on girls' education past 6th grade is a violation of this basic human right and will have a lasting effect on gender equity for Afghan girls and our global community. 

Girl Up stands with leaders and community members in Afghanistan who are seeking equal access to education. In the Girl Up Voices blog post, #OpenSchoolsForGirls: Afghan Girls Deserve to Learn, we highlight the voices of education activists and urge the de facto government of Afghanistan, the Taliban, to #LetAfghanGirlsLearn. 

We understand this is a very difficult time for members of our own Community. The World Events Community Forum is a space for you to express your thoughts, concerns, and support for your fellow community members.
